Q: What do we wear?
A: Wear what you LOVE! Wear what makes you feel most YOU! Dress confidently in clothes that make you feel best about yourself. From there, dress your family. There is no need to match each other, honestly it can be quite distracting. It does help to lay your clothes out together to see how they mesh. Selecting a few complimentary colors and shades, avoiding large logos or creatures jumping off your child’s clothing, and not having too many busy patterns going on, are generally good rules to apply. And, of course, your child’s favorites should be incorporated, whether it is a raggedy old doll, a beloved blankie, or a favorite dress up item, remember this is all about honestly representing your life and preserving your memories just as you cherish them.
Q: Do you have a studio?
A: Not at this time, though I occasionally rent a natural light studio for headshot, boudoir, and product shoots, I rarely book family or child sessions in the studio. I feel your family’s true YOU is represented by capturing you in and around your home or your favorite location(s).
Q: When is the session fee due? What does it cover?
A: The session fee is due at the time you book your session and is not refundable. The fee covers up to two hours of my time and talent, post-session editing, and a gallery of approximately 40 images presented online 2-3 weeks after your session. Your online gallery will be available for 30 days. The session fee does not include any prints or digital images.
Q: When do you schedule your photo sessions?
A: The majority of my photo sessions take place during daylight hours on Saturday and Sunday, however if you prefer a weekday I am happy to schedule sessions on Tuesday and Friday starting by 10:00 a.m. In the summertime and early fall months, photo sessions can be scheduled during the gorgeous "magic light" early hours of evening.
Q: What if one of us is sick on our session date?
A: Call me, asap! I’m a mom of a preschooler, I know how it is, I even get sick every now and then. We will do our best to reschedule your session as soon as possible.
Q: What if it rains?
A: We live in Portland , some shoots are going to be rained out. However, I have had exceptional luck with the weather. One weekend in November 2010 it rained nearly the entire weekend, yet I managed to get FIVE families photographed outside (and they stayed dry!). However, there is a reason I am not an exclusively natural-light photographer, and that reason is Mother Nature! Depending on the season, we will either reschedule your session, or move forward with it in your home or a location decided upon between us. This is one of the things we can discuss further in our phone consultation.
Q: Do you sell digital images?
A: Yes! I would say 90% of my clients opt to purchase the digital package I offer, which comes with high resolution files of all the images in your gallery, a print release for personal use, and a complete set of 4x6 prints.
